The Kenpo International (KI) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote constant self-improvement through American Kenpo Karate. The organization is headquartered in Plainview, NY.
Membership is open to individuals and schools/clubs. Categories include Allied, Certified, Charter, and Lineage Members. All members must assist in the expansion of the organization and uphold the KI bylaws.
The organization is managed by the Board of Directors, consisting of President Grandmaster Gilbert Velez, Vice President Grandmaster Doreen DiRienzo, and Secretary/Treasurer Master Norman Sandler. The President acts as the highest form of authority.
Promotions require adherence to specific time requirements, knowledge of forms, and self-defense techniques. Ranks of 5th Degree and higher must be promoted by a board. All test candidates must be members of KI.
